Jon Nolan and Danny Rowe replaced Alan Power and Charlee Adams for this Easter Monday clash at Wrexham whilst Conner Robinson returned on the bench.

The sun was trying to break through the clouds as referee Amy Fearn led the two teams out of the tunnel and once the pre-match formalities were done and dusted play got underway with the Imps kicking off.

It was a scruffy opening to the game and it took almost five minutes for the first attack of note but brave goalkeeping from Nick Townsend saw him challenge the advancing Joe Anyinsah who blazed well over when put under pressure.

On the quarter-hour mark a snap-shot from Jake Sheridan was held at the second attempt by Wrexham stopper Joslain Mayebi who then easily claimed a looping Ben Tomlinson header following a deep Tom Miller cross into the box.

Tomlinson then dragged a low effort well wide after he had advanced down the right following a clever Sheridan dummy. A knock to Joe Clarke then brought about a break in play as the half entered its second quarter.

A foul on Arnaud Mendy following good pressing by Sheridan gave Sean Newton the chance to whip in a 29th minute free-kick which was cleared for a corner by the returning Clarke. Mayebi claimed Newton's delivery well though as the heads went up in the six-yard box.

City kept pressing and when Jon Nolan was upended 35 yards out, it gave DANNY ROWE the chance to set his sights with his low dead-ball effort fizzing past Mayebi to give the Imps a deserved lead.

The Imps remained on the offensive with a 39th minute Miller throw seeing Mayebi spill  the ball before Newton's hooked effort was cleared off the line by Neil Ashton. Three minutes later Sheridan was cynically taken out by Steve Tomassen who earned a deserved yellow card.

As the 45 minute mark approached, Mayebi claimed well under pressure from Sheridan, who put in another excellent shift before the half-time whistle was blown.

Both teams emerged unchanged for the start of the second half and the hosts were the first to press following the restart with Anyinsah testing Townsend with a low volley a minute in.

At the other end Audel stabbed an effort wide after a Miller throw caused problems for the home defence. Miller then volleyed over after his throw-in was cleared back to him on the right of the box before Mendy kept the ball alive close to the line only for his ball into the box to go behind the advancing Kris Bright.

Ex-Imp Dean Keates replaced Joe Clarke in the 58th minute whilst Alan Power came on for Kris Bright at the same time for the Imps. Rowe then curled a long range effort a foot wide, although Mayebi had his shot covered.

Joe Williams for Andy Bishop was Wrexham's second switch shortly afterwards but City remained on the offensive with Sheridan forcing a corner on the attacking right; this was whipped in by Newton and palmed away by Mayebi before crashing against Audel who headed wide.

In the 67th minute Mayebi made a complete hash of a looping Sheridan centre before taking the ball straight out for a corner which saw Audel come inches away from connecting with Newton's delivery. Power picked up a caution three minutes later for a tug on Anyinsah's shirt.

City had a great chance to double the advantage shortly afterwards when Rowe found Nolan who volleyed wide with Mayebi rooted to his line. Koby Arthur then replaced Ben Tomlinson with 12 minutes on the clock.

The third change saw Conner Robinson replace goal scorer Rowe as the Imps forced a couple of throw-ins on their right and the substitute was quickly in the action, almost having a sight of goal when a ball into the box skidded in front of him on the left.

Some patient build-up play by the Imps saw them keep possession well before Sheridan was upended close to the left flank. Newton's delivery was deflected and tipped over by Mayebi but nothing came from the resultant corner.

In added time, Arthur was forced off with a bloody nose and before he returned Mayabi saved well from Power whilst at the other end Jay Harris blazed a long-range shot well wide. When Townsend took the goal-kick, referee Fearn blew for time with City more than worthy of the maximum haul.
