An iconic new look for the future...

We are pleased to unveil a new official logo, which will see the return of a familiar face to our playing kit for the 2014/15 season.

The new-look logo sees the return of the 'traditional' imp, an iconic symbol of the city of Lincoln which was emblazoned on the front of the shirts throughout the majority of the 1970s and early 1980s; an era which brought about record-breaking success under Graham Taylor and the highest League finish for over two decades under Colin Murphy.

Designed in conjunction with Alchemy Creations Ltd and at no additional cost to the Football Club, the new logo will appear on all official Club stationery, marketing material and new lines of merchandise, including next season's home and away shirts.

The current Club crest, which has been in use since 2001, will continue to be in operation as part of Lincoln City FC Sport & Education Trust's identity whilst existing crest-branded merchandise in the Club Shop will remain on sale throughout the transition period, although new lines of stock will feature the new red imp logo.

"The return of a traditional imp to the shirts has been a topic of discussion amongst supporters for some time," said General Manager John Vickers.

"We've taken all comments on board and have given this some serious thought and feel that the time is right to bring back what is seen by many as the traditional symbol of Lincoln City Football Club - the iconic red imp.

"Whilst it's always good to look back and reminisce, I like to think of this as a new start for the Football Club and a chance for a new generation of supporters to embrace an element of our history and help take the Club forward towards future success."

Understandably, it's difficult to pin-point an exact date as to when the Club - which celebrates its 130th anniversary on June 26th 2014 - were first referred to as the "Imps" but reference was made in the Lincoln, Rutland and Stamford Mercury way back on February 2nd 1912.

The unveiling of the new logo will coincide with the release of Season Ticket and Match Day admission prices for the 2014/15 season. These will be made public tomorrow, Thursday 3 April 2014.
