Pupils from Year 9 at The Priory City of Lincoln Academy enjoyed a coaching session provided by some of Lincoln City’s academy scholars recently...

... as part of the community partnership work between the Football Club and the school.

The scholars are currently working toward their Level Two Award in Coaching Football, which forms part of their apprenticeship qualification framework provided by The League Football Education and Academy Manager, Damian Froggatt, believes coaching in the community is an important part of the players’ education.

"The boys study a coaching certificate and this community work helps them improve their organisation and communication skills," said Froggatt.

"Plus, they are role models to young people and it’s important they learn about the values which being a role model carries with it. We were delighted when The Priory City of Lincoln Academy asked us to come in to work with their pupils.

"The Youth Academy works hard to build links with the local community and the partnership we have here at this school is fantastic."

Russell Fenton, Director of Sport at The Priory City of Lincoln Academy, added: "We are very proud to have worked with Lincoln City FC’s Youth Academy for many years. They share our facilities - notably our new 3G pitch and our swimming pool - and our students are able to reap the benefits of coaching expertise and sporting role models.

"Our Year 9 groups thoroughly enjoyed today’s session and it showed why we value our partnership with the Young Imps so highly. We look forward to working with them for many years to come."
