We are pleased to announce that our application to join the Lincolnshire FA Under 21 Development League for the coming season has been accepted.

Our new Under-21 side will be run by Academy Manager Damian Froggatt and his assistant Dean West and their first taste of action will come this evening in the shape of a friendly at Cleethorpes Town.

The LFA Under 21 Development League, which began last season, will comprise the following clubs: Boston United, CGB Humbertherm, Cleethorpes Town, Collingham FC, Gainsborough Trinity, Lincoln City, Newark Town and Sleaford Town.

Whilst the focus of the league is about the development of young players, teams can use an over-age goalkeeper and up to two over-age outfield players in each fixture. A fixture list is in the process of being compiled.

"The transition from under 18s to the First Team is a massive one and that gap had to be bridged, hence the introduction of an under-21 team," said manager Danny Cowley.

"Hopefully now there will be a more incremental step between the Academy and the First Team. It's about trying to bridge that divide."
