Terry Hawkridge for Greg Tempest was the only change as the Imps looked to continue their good run of form with a positive result on this, the first ever visit to Boreham Wood's Meadow Park ground. Matt Sparrow, meanwhile, returned from suspension to take his place on the bench.
The travelling City fans were in good voice as referee Nigel Lugg got play underway on a chilly Wednesday evening in north London. The hosts kicked off.
City were the first to press with a deep Lee Beevers cross finding Matt Rhead at the back post in the third minute but the striker was penalised for a push as he went up for the header.
At the other end a minute later a Bradley Wood trip on Charlie MacDonald gave the hosts a free-kick but Conor Clifford's delivery was poor and the ball went straight out for a goal kick.
A swift eighth minute break from Hawkridge saw him skip past his marker before his cross was cleared for a corner; Jack Muldoon picks out Callum Howe with the set-piece but his header back across the box was hacked clear.
A deflected Craig Stanley drive lead to another City corner with this one ending up seeing Howe head into home keeper James Russell's gloves. A couple of minutes later a Wood cross was headed wide by Rhead at full stretch.
In the 17th minute Muldoon showed good strength to win a corner on the City right and when this was cleared straight to Beevers inside his own half, he launched a ball back into the mix and there was MATT RHEAD who gave Russell no chance was a superb header from just inside the box.
City had a let off six minutes later when ex-Imp Luke Howell headed well wide after he met a cross from the right but shortly afterwards Clovis Kamdjo showed him how it was done as he stretched to reach an Anthony Jeffrey cross before seeing his header loop over Paul Farman for the leveller.
The Imps looked for a quick response and great work by Muldoon saw him whip in a cross but Rhead saw his downward header a minute after the restart bounce a foot wide.
Former City man David Stephens almost took Rhead's shirt off his back as the game ticked into its 33rd minute but nothing came from the free-kick and with the hosts quick to get the ball wide when in possession, full-backs Wood and Beevers were certainly being kept busy.
Five minutes before the break Muldoon fired over on the edge of the box before City's fourth corner was whipped in by the Imps' number seven but just over the heads of his team mates in a packed area.
The last action of the opening period saw Beevers pick out Muldoon with a cross-field pass and after the latter cut inside his marker, he saw his goalbound drive superbly kept out by Russell.

Both sides emerged unchanged for the start of the second half so it was as you were as the Imps restarted proceedings.
City came out of the traps quickly with Hearn just unable to get on the end of a low Muldoon cross at the back post less than a minute in whilst three minutes later a Wood cross was cleared against Rhead by Scott Doe before the ball looped agonisingly over Russell and on to the roof of the home net.
Kyle Wootton replaced Liam Hearn up front for the Imps in the 55th minute and two minutes later a deep Jeffrey cross lead to the hosts' first corner of the game. This was intercepted by Luke Waterfall but after advanced forward he overran the ball giving possession away in the process.
A great saving challenge by Howe sees him clear a dangerous Jeffrey centre on the hour mark as Boreham Wood enjoyed a good spell of possession. At the other end Joe Devera got in a clearing header as Wootton looked to get on the end of a Muldoon cross with the hosts' response seeing Mauro Vilhete fire wide following more good work by Jeffrey down the home left.
Matt Sparrow for Craig Stanley was the Imps' second switch, this coming in the 65th minute, four minutes before Kamdjo sliced an effort wide from 20 yards.
MacDonald sliced well wide from the right side of the City box in the 73rd minute before Farman was forced to tip a Vilhete cross over his bar and as the Imps went on the counter-attack Muldoon was hacked down by Howell who picked up a deserved yellow card. The resultant free-kick saw Howe head across goal but Wootton stabbed wide
Greg Tempest replaced Terry Hawkridge in a final throw of the dice by manager Chris Moyses and his first touch saw him curl in a free-kick which failed to come up with the goods.
With seven minutes remaining a surging run forward by Wood saw him shake off Stephens before seeing his cross cleared for a corner. Again the ball wouldn't run when played into the box and the home side cleared
Two minutes later Junior Morias replaced Luke Howell for the hosts before Wood ws cynically taken out by Jeffrey as he advanced down the right. Jeffrey was booked before Tempest's delivery was halted after referee Lugg spotted a push by a City player.
Just before three additional minutes was indicated, the hosts made a double change with Ricky Shakes and Mustafa Tiryaki replacing Vilhete and MacDonald. The last action of the game saw Russell claim a downward Rhead header.
