We are pleased to announce that experienced midfielder Matt Sparrow has signed a one-year contract with the Club.

Born in Wembley but brought up in Brigg, Sparrow brings a wealth of experience with him to Sincil Bank, having played well over 400 Football League games during his career, the majority of which coming during two spells with Scunthorpe United.

The 33-year-old spent the first 11 years as a professional with Scunthorpe, helping the Iron reach The Championship in 2009 before moving south to join Brighton and Hove Albion.

Part of the Brighton squad that lifted the 2010/11 League One title, Sparrow went on to spend two and a half years with the Seagulls before linking up with Crawley Town for the latter part of the 2012/13 campaign.

He returned to Scunthorpe following his release by Crawley and finished last season on loan at Cheltenham Town following a change of management at Glanford Park.

Sparrow becomes Chris Moyses' 10th signing of the summer and will link up with his new team mates when the squad report for pre-season training next week.
