NCH Caring Together Lincolnshire
National Care Homes-Lincolnshire start their 20th anniversary celebrations with Lincoln City FITC.
Saturday 7 June 2008 saw Lincoln City Football in the Community deliver football coaching sessions at Birchwood Community Centre in celebration of the National Care Homes Caring Together Project, which has now been running for 20 years in Lincolnshire.
NCH Caring Together Lincolnshire has helped so many disabled children and young people in Lincolnshire over those 20 years and they have made a tremendous impact all those that have come into contact with them.
In aid of the celebration, Football in the Community donated some sports equipment, including footballs, ball carriers and delivered a two hour coaching session to over 40 children and their families.
The sessions were delivered by Lincoln City FITC coaches Damon Parkinson and Matt Petch. They included a host of different football skills, along with lots of ball mastery, speed and agility challenges.
Damon Parkinson said, "It was a great event and Lincoln City Football in the Community, when approached by NCH of Lincolnshire, we were only too pleased to get involved. It has been a thoroughly enjoyable day. All the organizers, children and families have gone home with a smile on their face".
Linda Simmons from NCH was delighted with the positive interaction between the coaches and those who attended.
She said, "The disabled children and young people we work with are unable to attend mainstream coaching sessions so it was a wonderful opportunity for them and fantastic to see so many smiling faces."
There are more events planned between Lincoln City FITC and NCH Caring Together Lincolnshire around the county over the coming months, to celebrate this 20 year anniversary. They are in Louth (31 July), Boston (7th August), Sleaford (21 August) and Lincoln (28 August).
