A long-range effort from Lewis Butroid was enough to edge Morton into the quarter-finals after an exciting encounter between two very attacking teams.

In a wide open game, Morton enjoyed some early pressure with Declan Dickinson and Ben Sleight forcing corners, before Cherry's Ryan Yates forced an excellent save from Josh Fisher on the break.

The deadlock was broken when Lewis Butroid latched onto a loose ball and unleashed a fine strike, although Liam Bradley in the Cherry goal was unlucky as the ball took a slight deflection into the top corner. Ryan Yates flashed another effort wide for Cherry, before a scramble in the opposite goalmouth nearly led to Morton's second of the afternoon.

Ben Wray then bravely blocked a fierce Joe Silson effort and Josh Fisher made another outstanding save as Cherry went in search of an equalizer. But the Gainsborough-based school held on to secure a well-earned victory.

Congratulations to both teams for an entertaining match, and well done to Morton Trentside who now meet Manor Leas in the next round.
