Imps v Rochdale - Match Preview

Posted on: Thu 07 Feb 2008

The Imps look to extend their unbeaten run in Coca-Cola League 2 on Saturday as they face Rochdale.

Peter Jackson's side take on Keith Hill's Rochdale this Saturday afternoon with the visitors unbeaten away from home in the League since the first day of the season.

The Imps will be without defenders Gary Croft (calf) and Paul Green (suspended) for the game but midfielder Lee Frecklington may feature if deemed fit after his ankle injury which he sustained against Rotherham United earlier in the month.

Peter Jackson was still undecided on the replacement for right back Paul Green.

"Greeny is going to be out on Saturday through suspension after picking up five yellow cards and I'm reluctant to split up the partnership of Danny Hone and Lee Beevers. However, I've got a few options so I'm confident that whoever comes in will do a good job."

With Lenell John-Lewis set to miss out once again with a shoulder injury, Dany N'Guessan will be pushing for a place in the starting line up after coming off the bench on Tuesday evening to open the scoring against Macclesfield Town.

Onto the visitors and former City striker Lee Thorpe is expected to start his second game for his new club after joining The Dale at the end of the January transfer window following the departure of Glen Murray to Brighton.

It is still unsure as to whether or not former Scunthorpe United defender Nathan Stanton will be available for selection. The 26-year-old received a one game ban on Monday following his conduct in the League 2 game at MK Dons on January 26, where he was sent off for two cautions. He now has 14 days to appeal but may accept the ban before this Saturday's game.

Finally, Keith Hill bolstered his squad ahead of this weekend's game with the addition of youngster Chris Basham from Bolton Wanderers. The 19-year-old midfielder has agreed a three month loan deal at Spotland and will go straight into the squad to face the Imps.

Referee for the game is Andy Woolmer from Northamptonshire, kick off is 3.00pm.
