City's 2007/08 season ended on a losing note on Saturday with relegated Wrexham emerging 4-2 winners following an entertaining affair at Sincil Bank.

Wrexham took the lead in the 11th minute when midfielder Levi Mackin headed home a free-kick and, after Lee Frecklington was forced off with what looked like a shoulder injury, the Welshmen doubled their advantage when Wes Baynes drilled home direct from a free-kick.

Almost 5,000 spectators looked on as City were handed a lifeline when Wrexham defender Steve Evans, under pressure from Jamie Forrester, headed past goalkeeper Gavin Ward from the edge of the area but it was left to the closing stages for all the other goal action.

Baynes fired home another free-kick to make it 3-1 with two minutes on the clock and after Ben Wright pulled another one back and Lee Beevers hit the woodwork, a Wrexham counter-attack ended with Chris Llewellyn lifting the ball over Ayden Duffy to complete the scoring.
