Manager Peter Jackson is delighted to announce that he has beaten off the challenge of a number of clubs to secure the signature of former England U20 international goalkeeper Rob Burch on a two-year contract.

Since his release from Sheffield Wednesday at the end of the season, former Tottenham Hotspur youngster Burch (23) had attracted a lot of interest, including that of at least one Premier League side, and Jackson is delighted to have brought him to Sincil Bank.

"Since I let Alan Marriott go, the only 'keeper I wanted to bring in was Rob Burch and I'm absolutely delighted that he's said yes," said Jackson.

"When he came back from holiday last week numerous clubs started to come in for him, including a bigger club in our division, so I thought I'd lost him as it looked as though he was going to join them.

"But he'll be here tomorrow to have his medical and to sign. The amount of interest that has been generated since he was released by Sheffield Wednesday has shown what a good keeper he is so it's another major, major signing for me.

"He's been weighing up all the options and thinks that this is the club for him so it's terrific news for me that he's coming here.

"He's a 'keeper who's only played a few games so he's not the finished article but he has the potential to go a long, long way. But he needs to play games.

"I always said when I got the job here that my main aim, after saving the Club from relegation, was to raise the profile of the Club and I think that with the quality of signings I'm bringing in and the big names I'm bringing in that is happening.

"Full credit to the Board and Chairman who have backed me when I said that my personality and drive for this football club was important and hopefully I've done that.

"We'll have another major signing tomorrow and slowly but surely we're attracting the big names to Lincoln at last."
