The Imps travel to Don Valley Stadium on Saturday to kick off their 2008/09 Coca-Cola League 2 campaign against Rotherham United.
Manager Peter Jackson is expected to be without the services of Frank Sinclair and Ben Wright who are both facing a race to be fit for the season opener at Rotherham United.
Wright, who sustained a foot injury at Farlsey Celtic, only returned to training on Thursday whilst defender Frank Sinclair picked up a calf injury during training this week. Both Lee Beevers and Danny Hone will be pushing for a place should the experienced Sinclair miss out.
In midfield Jackson has selection problems for all the right reasons with Scott Kerr, Lee Frecklington, Stefan Oakes, Lenell John-Lewis, Dany N'Guessan, Shane Clarke, Martin Pembleton and Gary King all available for selection, although left winger Owain Warlow is currently on loan at Kettering Town.
Onto City's opponents and the Millers start the season on -17 points having been handed the penalty after failing to satisfy the normal conditions of Football League rules for exiting administration.
Turning our attention back to matters on the pitch and Millers defender Stephen Brogan will be unavailable until the New Year following complications on his recovery from a broken leg sustained back in February. Meanwhile, strikers Marc Newsham (heel) and Mark Burchill (groin) are both doubtful for the match.
Referee for the game is Andy Haines from Tyne & Wear, kick off 3.00pm.
Supporters are reminded that they can pay on the turnstiles on the day of the fixture.
