City Hit By Second Half Triple

Posted on: Sat 16 Aug 2008

It was a game of two halves at Sincil Bank on Saturday as Dagenham & Redbridge came from behind to end up 3-1 victors to retain their place at the top of the League 2 table.

Things had looked good at the break after an 18th minute Lenny John-Lewis effort had given the Imps the lead but a disallowed Ben Wright header, given for offside after he latched on to a Dany N'Guessan cross seconds before the break, was the main talking point during the interval.

With City having the better of things in the opening half, the second half was a different story with the Daggers, and striker Ben Strevens, taking centre stage.

Former Barnet front man Strevens hooked home an instinctive first in the 66th minute after Rob Burch had misjudged an outswinging free-kick whilst his second came 13 minutes later when he nipped in at the near post to head home a Sam Saunders corner.

Strevens turned provider as the Daggers netted a third in the final minute. He latched on to a ball over the top, rounded the advancing Burch and slid a right-footed effort goalwards with Benson there to make sure at the far post.
