Darlington v Imps - Match Preview

Posted on: Fri 14 Nov 2008

Coca-Cola League 2's form teams go head-to-head on Saturday afternoon with the Imps looking to bring table-topping Darlington's 10-match unbeaten run to an end.

City, with just one defeat in their last nine League games, face a Darlington side who haven't tasted defeat in their last 10 League and cup matches so the game at the Balfour Webnet Darlington Arena has all the makings of being a cracking encounter.

An ankle ligament injury, sustained in last weekend's 1-1 draw at Kettering Town in the FA Cup sponsored by E.ON, means that Lenell John-Lewis is rated as 50-50 for the trip to the north east whilst Stefan Oakes is a definite absentee due to the ankle injury that forced him to miss the trip to Rockingham Road.

Apart from that, manager Peter Jackson has a fully-fit squad to choose from with Lee Frecklington, Paul Green and Scott Kerr all coming through the Kettering match without reaction to their recent knocks and strains.

Quakers' boss Dave Penney, meanwhile, has Liechenstein international Franz Burgmeier available again following injury whilst Liam Hatch is also back after recovering from a hamstring strain. Top scorer Billy Clarke, however, is out for three weeks with the same injury.

Kick-off at the Balfour Webnet Darlington Arena is 3.00pm and the match referee is the experienced Scott Mathieson from Cheshire.
