Blades Friendly Confirmed

Posted on: Thu 07 May 2009

We are pleased to announce that a pre-season friendly with Sheffield United has been finalised for Tuesday 28 July 2009 at Sincil Bank Stadium (ko 7.30pm).

As part of our 125th anniversary celebrations, all of our home pre-season friendlies this summer are linked in to landmark fixtures in the Club's history and the match against the Blades, who are pushing for promotion to the Premier League, is no exception as they were our opponents for our first ever Football League match, back on September 3rd 1892.

The other confirmed home friendly matches will see our youth team take on Sleaford Town on Sunday 19 July 2009 as part of our Community Day programme of events. Sleaford were the first team we ever played against, with a friendly match in October 1884 finishing 9-1 to City. Then, on Monday 20 July 2009, we welcome an Arsenal XI to Sincil Bank Stadium (7.30pm) for what promises to be a prestigious occasion.

A pre-season tour to Germany has also been confirmed, with the Imps playing TuS Celle FC on Thursday 2nd July 2009 whilst other away friendlies which have been agreed will see sides travel to Boston United (July 15th, 7.30pm), Bridlington (July 18th, 3.00pm) and Goole Town (August 1st, 3.00pm).

Further details for all of our home friendly matches, including admission prices, will be announced in due course.
