Major Sponsor Introduced
Following the recent announcement of Abacus EW Consultancy Ltd becoming the principal sponsors of the scholarship programme, Co-owners Paul and Alison Burrows came down for a photo and to meet the press.
Chairman of the Youth Development Board Chris Travers was joined by Head of Youth Tom Spall and Youth Team Coach Grant Brown as well as scholars Andy Hutchinson and Nathan Adams, who both made their first team debuts last season.
The two-year sponsorship agreement will see the logo of Wellingore-based Abacus EW Consultancy Ltd appear on the front of the scholars' home shirts, as well as on their tracksuits, and it is hoped that the newly sponsored kit will be unveiled at the pre-season friendly match against Sleaford Town at the Club's Community Open Day on Sunday 19 July 2009.
"I am delighted to be able to confirm Abacus EW Consultancy Ltd as principal sponsors of our scholarship programme, and am delighted that co-owners Paul and Alison Burrows have chosen to support their local football club in this way," said Youth Development Board chairman Chris Travers.
"We have been seeking a major sponsor of this calibre for some time, and it is fantastic to be able to announce that we have been able to secure a two-year agreement with a local company with strong local connections who have chosen to evidence their support of the local community by sponsoring our youth department in this manner."
Paul Burrows, Director and co-owner of Abacus EW Consultancy Ltd, added: "Both Alison and myself are lifelong football fans and being the directors of Abacus EW we are proud to be in the position to offer support to our local team at Lincoln City.
"In particular, we look forward to sponsoring the LCFC Youth Team for the foreseeable future and we both hope that this is just the start of a successful venture for both parties.
"We see no reason at all why this cannot lead to even more success on the pitch with new and exciting talent making the grade from youth to professional status. If Abacus EW can help in any way, it may leave a legacy for other companies to match or even better our efforts in supporting our local team."
