Army Game Cancelled

Posted on: Tue 30 Jun 2009

This evening's game against the Army side in Germany will now not go ahead

The Imps were set to take on The 1st Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers this evening in a friendly encounter on the army base, but manager Peter Jackson was not satisfied with the condition of the pitch and the game will not now go ahead.

"Although the facilities here are first class, the pitch itself is not in the best condition and I didn't want to risk any of the players getting injured," said Jacko.

"The pitch is fine for running on and doing ball work but I didn't want to risk it in a competitive fixture."

"We have been over to the stadium ahead of Thursday's game and the pitch is fine so we will continue to work on the players' fitness and look forward to game in Celle in a couple of days time."
