LCST Statement

Posted on: Fri 04 Sep 2009

Following the September Trust Board meeting, Lincoln City Supporters Trust has issued this statement:-

As Chair of Lincoln City Supporters Trust, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Peter Jackson and Iffy Onuora for their contribution during their period of management.

The Trust must have the best interests of Lincoln City at heart. Indeed, we have a role, as major shareholder, to ensure that the future of the Club is not compromised. Therefore we fully support the decision of the Club Board that a change of management was essential. The Trust was involved with the process through our representatives on the Club Board.

The general feeling among supporters was that a change was essential. Performances were not good enough and it was felt that the management team was unable to remedy this. It is hoped that a new manager will be able to realise the potential that exists in our squad.

We have to be realistic about the budget situation. We cannot hope to compete with a team with resources like Notts County, and it is unlikely that we will be able to appoint a high profile personality, demanding a commensurate salary. But the Trust Board believes that our playing budget compares well with many in League 2. We want a manager who can deliver success while working within the guidelines of the present financial situation.

At a Joint Meeting with the Lincoln City Football Club Board, the criteria for the new appointment were agreed. Our representatives on the Club Board, David Beck and Jean Foster, will be involved in the selection process at every stage.

Lissie Wilkins,
Chair, LCST
