Macclesfield v Imps - Match Preview

Posted on: Fri 09 Oct 2009

Manager Chris Sutton will be forced to shuffle his pack for Saturday afternoon's Coca-Cola League 2 trip to Macclesfield Town.

Sutton's first away game as City boss will see him lock horns with ex-Imps' chief Keith Alexander at Moss Rose, but the luxury of naming an unchanged starting line-up has been hampered due to the enforced absence of Janos Kovacs and Cian Hughton.

Kovacs' fifth caution of the season against Aldershot Town last Saturday rules him out of Saturday's game whilst Hughton's call-up into the Republic of Ireland U21 means that he will miss his first game of the season.

Moses Swaibu is likely to come in for Kovacs in the centre of defence, although assistant manager Ian Pearce is also available for selection having registered as a player, whilst boss Sutton has a number of options available to him to fill the void left by Hughton's absence on the right. The likes of Jamie Clarke, Lenell John-Lewis and new loan signing Anthony Pulis will all be pushing for that pretigious starting place.

For Macclesfield, ex-Imps Paul Morgan and Ben Wright are both struggling with groin and back injuries respectively as boss Alexander looks to build on a recent run of results which have seen the Silkmen pick up seven points from their last three League matches.

Kick off at Moss Rose is 3.00pm and the match referee is Karl Evans.
