Kerr Escapes Ban

Posted on: Mon 04 Jan 2010

Skipper Scott Kerr has avoided a suspension despite picking up his fifth booking of the season.

Kerr was cautioned in stoppage time by referee Michael Oliver during the FA Cup sponsored by E.ON Third Round tie at Bolton Wanderers and in previous years if a player picked up five cautions at this stage of the season they would have been suspended for one game, however a new initiative from the Football League this year which sees the bringing forward of the yellow card amnesty cut-off date from the end of February to 31 December means that the City captain will not miss the next fixture as previously feared.

Kerr will now be available for selection against Accrington Stanley at Sincil Bank Stadium on Saturday and not suspended unless he collects another four yellow cards (bringing his 2010 total to five yellow cards) or a red card.
