Drewe Enjoying Loan Spell

Posted on: Thu 04 Mar 2010

Drewe Broughton has hinted he is open to extending his stay at Sincil Bank beyond his one-month loan deal.

The big forward has started every game for City since he arrived from Rotherham United last month. But his loan spell is due to end this month.

Boughton, who will either stay or return to parent Club Rotherham, said: "Its still wide open at the moment. I don't know yet, but you never know in football.

"I've always enjoyed playing at the Bank, but I'll just concentrate on the next few games first and then worry about what happens then."

Drewe was an unused substitute in Rotherham's narrow win over Lincoln at the Bank just three days before he jogged out in Imps' colours.

The 6ft 3in frontman made his debut in City's 2-1 win over Accrington Stanley. He starred in Lincoln's 2-2 draw at Grimsby, then went off injured against Port Vale but returned to play Crewe on Saturday.

"I've really enjoyed it here," he said. "Unfortunately I've been carrying a hamstring injury the last few games, but I've enjoyed working under the manager and I think he's got a bright future."

The 31-year-old started at Norwich City in 1996 and has since played for Brentford, Peterborough and Milton Keynes Dons among others. His loans spells include stints at Wigan Athletic and Boston United.

Broughton moved to the Millers in 2008, but found opportunities limited this season. He joined Lincoln on loan to gain regular first-team football and has made four starts so far.

"I'm really impressed with the club," said Broughton of his time at Lincoln. "Its a club with potential. Its got a good set-up and its going in the right direction."
