Minute's Applause For Keith

Posted on: Fri 05 Mar 2010

Supporters attending Saturday's Coca-Cola League 2 game at Rochdale are asked to play their part in a minute's applause prior to the kick-off to celebrate the life of Keith Alexander.

The footballing world was left stunned on Wednesday with the news that Keith had passed away at the age of 53 and, at his family's request, the travelling Imps' fans will be able to pay their respects to the former City manager at Spotland by joining in a minute's applause.

Next Friday night's home game against Hereford United, meanwhile, will also give supporters a chance to pay their respectes to the man who led the Imps to an unprecedented four consecutive play-off appearances.

As part of the evening, which will see the FIFA World Cup™ Trophy come to Sincil Bank, a giant screen will be installed in the corner of the Stacey West Stand and the Echo Stand and during the course of the pre-match build-up, some memorable moments from Keith's career with the Imps will be broadcast.

Supporters are therefore urged to arrive at the Stadium as early as possible so they can share in the celebration of Keith's life.

Turnstiles will open at 6.30pm and following the pre-match entertainment and the parading of the World Cup™ Trophy by 1966 winner Martin Peters, a minute's applause for Keith will take place before the game against Hereford kicks off.
