Jarrett Agrees One-Year Deal

Posted on: Tue 29 Jun 2010

Manager Chris Sutton is set to add left winger Albert Jarrett to his squad for the coming season with the Sierra Leonean international agreeing a 12-month contract with the Imps.

Jarrett, who played 45 times for Barnet last season having joined the Bees from Gillingham, started his career as a schoolboy with Arsenal but having failed to win a professional contract, signed for Wimbledon, making his Football League debut in the 2003/04 campaign.

The 25-year-old then spent two years with Brighton & Hove Albion, which included loan spells with Stevenage Borough and Swindon Town before linking up with Watford in the summer of 2006 following a successful trial at Vicarage Road.

Despite making his international debut for Sierra Leone against Benin in an African Nations Cup qualifier in October 2006, Jarrett found first team chances limited at Watford and in a bid to get some games under his belt, was loaned to Boston United and MK Dons. Following his release by Watford, he joined Gillingham and helped them to promotion from League 2, although an ankle injury restricted his appearances to just 16.

"I'm delighted that a player of Albert's ability has agreed to sign for us," said Chris Sutton.

"He is a player who the fans will pay money to come and watch and if he can fulfil his potential he will almost certainly improve us as a team and help move us forward."
