Imps @ Rotherham - Match Preview

Posted on: Tue 31 Aug 2010

The Imps take a break from League matters this evening with a trip to Rotherham United in the first round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy next on the agenda.

City travel to the Don Valley Stadium for the second time this month, having lost 2-1 to the Millers on the opening day of the season, and manager Chris Sutton will be looking for his squad to build on the last two performances, which has seen them yield four points with a win at Gillingham and a home draw against Crewe Alexandra.

Competition rules mean that teams can't make wholesale changes to their starting line-ups, although Albert Jarrett's call-up into the Sierra Leone squad means that Sutton will be forced to make at least one change to the side that began the Crewe game.

Jarrett, whose goal against the Alex earned the Imps their first home League point of the current campaign, will also miss Saturday's trip to Chesterfield following his international call for the Leone Stars' African Cup of Nations qualifying game against Egypt in Cairo on Sunday.

Striker Drewe Broughton will also miss the match against his former side due to injury and he joins Mustapha Carayol and Gavin McCallum on the sidelines, but skipper Scott Kerr could return having missed the last two matches.

Kick-off at Don Valley Stadium is 7.45pm with David Coote being the match referee.

Should the scores be level at the end of 90 minutes then the tie will go straight to penalty kicks. No extra-time will be played.

If you can't make it to the game then tune in to Imps Player shortly before kick off for full match commentary
