Albert Helps Sierra Leone To Egypt Draw

Posted on: Mon 06 Sep 2010

Albert Jarrett helped Sierra Leone to a 1-1 draw against Egypt in their African Cup of Nations qualifying game in Cairo on Sunday.

Freetown-born Jarrett, whose international call-up forced him to miss our Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie at Rotherham United as well as the npower League 2 trip to Chesterfield, came close to scoring against the African champions with an early free-kick and in the 57th minute was quick to congratulate team mate Moustapha Bangura after he put Sierra Leone ahead.

The Leone Stars' lead in the Cairo International Stadium lasted just four minutes, however, with Mahmoud Fathallah heading in a cross from fellow defender Sayed Moawad.

The result leaves Egypt and Sierra Leone with one point each in Group G. South Africa top the group with three points after beating Niger 2-0 in their opening match.

Jarrett's appearance for his country saw him become the ninth City player to play at full international level whilst on the Club's books.
