PREVIEW: Kettering v Imps

Posted on: Fri 27 Jan 2012

The Imps travel to Kettering Town on Saturday for their latest Blue Square Bet Premier fixture without the services of leading scorer Sam Smith.

Smith, who suffered a fractured second metatarsal during the first half of Tuesday night's 2-0 home win over Southport, will be out of action for at least two months, and with Jamie Taylor and Francis Laurent also on the injured list, manager David Holdsworth is struggling with striking options for the match against the Poppies.

Whilst in-form Richard Pacquette is an almost certain starter up front having bagged three goals from his first two starts for the Club, Holdsworth will leave it late before deciding on Smith's replacement, with an enforced formation change the likely occurrence.

The likes of Danny Lloyd, who replaced Smith at half-time in midweek, and Jake Sheridan could come into the reckoning whilst Gavin McCallum could be in line for a surprise inclusion having not featured in the squad following his return from a loan spell at Barnet.

City will be up against a Kettering side who, under the leadership of caretaker manager Ashley Westwood, secured a fine 2-1 win over Gateshead on Tuesday. The success was their first victory in 14 attempts.

Kick-off at Nene Park is 3.00pm with Richard Wigglesworth the match referee.
