New City signing Marcus Stergiopoulos has been speaking after finally signing a three month loan deal with the Imps.
"I was at Wimbledon for three weeks and then I had offers in Aberdeen and interest from some Second Division clubs so I didn't know whether I was Harry or Barry!" said the Melbourne-born utility player.
"I went to Notts County for one game and I had an absolute nightmare because mentally I just wasn't swictched on."
After impressing in two friendlies, Stergiopoulos was offered the three-month loan deal with the Imps but initially turned it down and it was thought that he would return to his native Australia.
"The coaching staff were happy with the two games that I played and offered me a deal that I didn't accept so there was a point where I was going to go back to Australia. I then had interest from Belgium but it was a matter of waiting. I didn't want to be sitting on my butt - I needed to be playing and Lincoln gave me that opportunity.
"My agent spoke with Phil (Stant) again and the offer was a lot better. It's not my dream move but it gives me the opportunity to be able to play in the Football League. I'm confident in my own ability and hopefully I can make a bit of money for the club. They've stuck their neck out for me and given me the opportunity and the only thing I can do is repay them.
"'The harder I work the easier it becomes in life' was an old cliche my father told me so with the opportunity of working hard and doing well for Lincoln that could open the doors up for a long-term contract here although it could open up other avenues within the Football League.
"I'm very very ambitious. I've got humongous dreams as a country boy back in Australia so I'll never lose sight of what I've set out to achieve and if it means I'm here with Lincoln City to achieve that then so be it."
