Former Darlington and Rochdale midfielder Clark joined the Imps on a short-term deal in January 2010 and after he finished the season as a regular in City first team, was rewarded with a new one-year contract.
Having joined Darlington as a teenager from Walker Central in September 2001, Newcastle-born Clark made his Quakers debut in the final game of the 2001/02 season but it was the following campaign which saw him rise to prominence.
A hard-working midfielder, Clark became a regular in the Darlington squad in 2002 and even took over the captain's armband for one match as his tireless performances endeared him to the Quakers' fans.
He went on to spend a further five seasons in the north east, becoming skipper on a permanent basis in 2006, and had almost 200 senior appearances to his name before he was released in the summer of 2008 with his last game coming in an end of season play-off defeat to Rochdale, the side who he duly joined.
Clark played 36 times in his first season at Spotland but towards the end of the campaign was placed on the transfer list by manager Keith Hill and as a result, his first taste of competitive action in the 2009/10 season came whilst on loan at Chester City in the Blue Square Premier.
He received rave reviews during his two-month stay at the Deva Stadium but was forced to return to Rochdale with the cash-strapped Cheshire club unable to retain his services for a longer period of time. He immediately linked up with Gateshead on loan, playing three times for the Tynesiders, before leaving Rochdale by mutual consent on Christmas Eve.
