Shane Clarke is a six foot, athletic, box-to-box midfielder with good distribution of the ball. After making a couple of appearances for Stamford on work experience as well as playing in the reserves in the 2005/06 season, he started to influence games, started to talk more and started to organise more which was a feature of his game he needed to work on.

Clarke is a local lad and is a product of the Club's Centre of Excellence. He joined the Centre at an early age but felt that it wasn't quite right for him at the time and wanted to continue to be involved with his local club. A couple of years later the Club asked him to come back and he was more than happy to do so and he hasn't looked back since, penning a one-year professional contract in the summer of 2006.

His first taste of first team action came as an unused substitute in a Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie against Grimsby Town in October 2006 and signed a new one-year deal in the summer of 2007.
