Experienced striker Jamie Forrester initially joined the Imps on a month's loan in March 2006 and made an immediate impact, scoring on his debut in the 5-0 home win over Grimsby Town two days later. On completion of the 2005/06 season, Forrester made the move to Sincil Bank permanent, penning a two-year deal with the Imps.

Forrester's name is a familiar one in Lincolnshire circles, with the striker having played for both Grimsby and Scunthorpe United during his career, which has seen him score over 100 Football League goals.

Leeds United paid a fee of £60,000 to French side Auxerre to take the former England youth and schoolboy international to Elland Road in October 1992, but in three years at Elland Road, he made just nine First Team appearances but was a member of their FA Youth Cup winning side.

He had loan spells with both Southend United and Grimsby Town whilst with the Yorkshire outfit before joining the latter on a permanent basis in October 1995.

After a total of 41 League outings for the Mariners, Bradford-born Forrester made the short trip to Scunthorpe United in March 1997 and went on to bag 37 goals in 101 League appearances for the Iron. A Bosman free transfer move to FC Utrecht in Holland followed in the summer of 1999.

His time in the Netherlands was short-lived though and, after loan spells with Walsall and Northampton Town, he joined the Cobblers for a fee of £150,000 in June 2000. Whilst at Northampton, he showed the form that had brought him the plaudits at Scunthorpe, netting 39 times from 111 League appearances.

A move to Hull City followed in January 2003 however a surplus of strikers at the KC Stadium meant that Forrester couldn't hold down a regular first team place, despite being named in the squad for every game of their 2003/04 promotion season. He left Hull in the summer of 2004 for Bristol Rovers.

The opening stages of the 2006/07 season saw Forrester's name regularly in the spotlight, as three hat-tricks in the space of 11 games saw him become the first City player since the legendary Andy Graver in the early 1950's to net three League hat-tricks in the same season. He finished the season as the Club's top scorer with 18 goals from his 41 League appearances.
