Reserves Defeat Minstermen
The reserves returned to Pontin's League action at Ashby Avenue this evening recording a 4-0 win over York City.
Grant Brown reports on the match:
We were lucky enough to field a very strong and experienced reserve side and it was great to see so many players returning from injury. Nat Brown had his first game for about eight weeks, Lee Beevers returned after dislocating his shoulder against Chester City, Mark Stallard completed his first 90 minutes for a very long time, Adie Moses was also back in action and we had Jamie Hand and Alan Marriott in there as well.
On paper it was a very strong side but in reserve matches it's a case of going out there in the right frame of mind and the lads showed a great attitude and played some good football against a decent York side who also played some good football in patches.
Our trialist from Harrogate Railway, Daniel Davidson, got the first goal and after that we were very comfortable. Danny did well up front and I was very pleased with two-goal Ollie Ryan's performance wide on the wing. Our defence looked organised and communicated well together and it was pleasing to see us record a clean sheet with Mazza having to do very little.
We took Lee Beevers and Adie Moses off in the second half purely as a precaution but it's a big boost for the Club coming up to the busy Christmas period to have so many experienced players returning to the first team squad.
Although every player did well the pick of the bunch was Jamie Hand who played the ball around well and won every tackle in the middle of the park. The performance from everyone though was very professional and that's a very pleasing thing to say.
