Imps Youth Defeat Boston

Posted on: Wed 04 Aug 2010

City's youth team defeated Boston United's youth team 2-0 this afternoon in a pre-season friendly at RAF Cranwell

Second half goals from Lewis Vallelonga, who is on trial from Hull City and Sam Turner gave the Imps a comfortable win although Head of Youth Grant Brown was disappointed that the scoreline was not bigger.

"We passed the ball well for much of the game and controlled it for long periods." Said Brown.

"Dan Coupland had a good game at the back for us and James Wilson was effective for us."

He continued, "Nick Draper saved well in the first half from one of our former centre of excellence players Stuart Whittaker."

"All in all it was a pleasing performance but we do need to be more ruthless in front of goal and take our chances when they arise."

City's youth team are next in action on Friday evening when they will play the Lincolnshire County FA Under 18's side at Appleby Frodingham with kick at 7.30pm.
