Nottingham Forest’s Under 14s were worthy winners in Saturday's Under 14 Keith Alexander Memorial Tournament.

With eight teams competing Forest boasted the only 100% record in the group stage.  They eased past defending champions Hull City in the semi-final before inflicting a 6-0 defeat on Grimsby Town in the final.

In the third place play-off Hull defeated Humberside neighbours Scunthorpe United 1-0.

The Richard Butcher Memorial Trophy for the Player of the Tournament went to Forest’s Max Thornberry who capped a fine day with a hat-trick in the final.

Lincoln City fielded two sides in the tournament following the late withdrawal of Rotherham United and they finished in fifth and sixth positions.

Sunday sees the Under 16 competition with matches getting under way at 10:00. Spectators are very welcome and local young rock band The Substitutes will be playing a set during the lunch break.
