Experienced goalkeeper David Preece has today joined the Club on a non-contract basis.

A former Sunderland trainee, Preece (36) made his Football League breakthrough with Darlington, playing over 100 times in two seasons for the Quakers before signing for Aberdeen.

He went on to spend six seasons in the Scottish Premier League before moving to Denmark, firstly with Silkeborg IF and then Odense Boldklub, before returning to England 10 years after he left Darlington.

Signing for Barnsley following his release by OB, Sunderland-born Preece spent the majority of his time at Oakwell as cover for Luke Steele, although he did feature a handful of times in The Championship for the Tykes.

"David will join us short term with a view to an extension," said manager David Holdsworth.

"He brings with him some excellent experience, specifically into the goalkeeping area."

Preece has been handed the number 31 squad shirt.
