Central defender Scott Garner has today joined the Club on loan from Cambridge United.

Garner (23) joined Cambridge in the summer after two years with Grimsby Town, having previously been with Imps' boss David Holdsworth at Mansfield Town.

A former Leicester City youth, Garner made his first class bow whilst on loan at Ilkeston Town, managed at the time by Holdsworth, who then took him to Mansfield in January 2009.

He made an immediate impact at Field Mill, being named as the Conference Player of the Month during his first few weeks with the Stags, and later that season was handed the captain's armband whilst still a teenager.

Joining Grimsby in the summer of 2010, Coventry-born Garner played 31 times in two years with a loan spell at Alfreton Town seeing him gain further experience, before he was released at the end of his contract.

An England C international, captaining the side against Hungary U23 in September 2009, Garner joined Cambridge prior to the start of this season on a two-year contract.

His loan with the Imps will run until January 2nd 2013 and he has been given permission to play in the FA Carlsberg Trophy, although not if Lincoln and Cambridge are drawn against each other.

He has been handed the vacant number 6 shirt.
