On a hot Saturday afternoon the Imps under 18's faced their first test of pre-season against Boston Town at Tattershall Road.

For the first 20 minutes the young Imps were on the back foot with Boston hitting the woodwork twice in quick succession, but then a well worked move down the right hand side ended with an excellent cross into the box from Marlon Grundy which was headed coolly headed home form five yards by Kieran Helsdown.

As the game moved into the second half City began to show more dominance, keeping the ball for large periods of the game and due to the heat and fluent football played Boston Town began to tire.

This meant there was more chances for the Imps to score and when a good through ball from Andy Wright sent Jordan Harper through on goal he confidently rounded the ‘keeper the smash it home from a couple of yards.

Harper then slid Alex Simmons through and he took it round the ‘keeper to roll it in to make it 3-0 and finally, late on in the second half, a well worked passing move which started from the back ended with Matt Cotton through on goal and he cheekily chipped in from 10 yards to cap of a good victory for the young Imps in their first game of the year.
