Former Academy star Jack Hobbs is the latest former City youngster to add his support to the Future Imps Fund - the Academy’s fundraising campaign.
Hobbs famously made his debut for the Imps aged just 16 years and 149 days - playing just three minutes as a substitute against Bristol Rovers in 2005 - before securing a move to Liverpool later that year. His career has since taken him to Scunthorpe United, Leicester City and more recently Hull City with whom he achieved promotion to the Barclays Premier League earlier this year.
"I still care deeply about the club where I began my career, and about the Youth Academy at Lincoln City, so I'm delighted to be able to support the Future Imps Fund," said Hobbs.
"I have many fantastic memories from my years in the Academy. It is a warm and friendly club but still has very high standards and a great track record in developing good players."
Hobbs has been fortunate to enjoy playing and training among top class players and at top class facilities but was quick to point out the work of the Academy given its far more restricted surroundings.
"I spent most of my young career training on the old sand-based Astroturf at the club,” he recalled.
"Everyone at Lincoln works hard because they care about the Club and despite the huge cut in funding it is clear that the staff, the Club and the fans at Lincoln are determined to keep the Academy alive and well.
"I would urge anyone who can help in any way to add their support to this campaign."
