We are pleased to announce that goalkeeper Nick Townsend has today completed a season-long youth loan move from Birmingham City.

Townsend, who played in Saturday's pre-season friendly against Stalybridge Celtic, returns to Sincil Bank having played the last 14 games of last season as replacement for the injured Paul Farman.

The 19-year-old signed a contract extension with Blues during the summer having been regular in their under-18 and under-21 sides over the past couple of seasons, having also gained experience during a loan spell with Oxford City in Conference North towards the end of the 2012/13 campaign.

He was on the substitutes' bench for Birmingham's FA Cup third round replay against Leeds United in January 2013, but to date has yet to make his senior bow for the club.

A clause in the loan means that Birmingham have the option to recall the stopper between January 4 and 31, 2015 if needed.

He has taken the vacant number 26 squad shirt.
