Club To Back Inspiring Lives Appeal

1 July 2014

Sponsored by

We have reaffirmed our commitment to Lincoln City FC Sport & Education Trust by naming its Inspiring Lives Appeal as our Official Charity Appeal for the 2014/15 season.

Lincoln City FC Sport & Education Trust (LCFCSET) set up the Inspiring Lives Appeal earlier this year to give more back to the local community and support those individuals and families across Lincoln and its wider districts. Any money raised will specifically go towards the disabled and those families living in areas of deprivation.

The first fundraising target is to raise money for a boy who has Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH), a neurological condition defined by increased intracranial pressure around the brain without the presence of tumour or disease.

The boy used to attend the holiday clubs with his brother and LCFCSET decided that they wanted to help him and his family by supporting with the purchase of items and activities to help with independent living as much of the family finance goes towards bills to support hospital care.

"This is fantastic news for the Sport & Education Trust’s Inspiring Lives Appeal," said Paul Hamnett, Trust Manager.

"This will enable us to raise the profile even further and continue our fundraising to support local people. The money raised will be given to local people in order to support them getting into sport in and around Lincoln and having the Football Club adopt this appeal will definitely help.

"If anyone is interested in supporting the appeal then please get in contact and we can discuss how you can help."

LCFC General Manager John Vickers added: "The Sport & Education Trust carry out some fantastic projects in the local community and their hard work and dedication is very much appreciated by all of us at the Football Club.

"As a club we will support them as much as possible, both in the coming season and in future years, and I hope all fans will follow suit in backing the Inspiring Lives Appeal."

LCFCSET is a registered charity and is part of the Lincoln City family. LCFCSET was previously known as Football in the Community but in 2010 became a charity which has seen its activities explode in the community.

Being a registered charity means they can apply for grant funding to deliver activities under the following areas: Health, Disability, Social Inclusion, Education and Sports Participation.

LCFCSET however does not just deliver grant funded projects as it also provides services to schools through PE lesson delivery, after school clubs and Sports Leaders Awards.

They are currently working in over 40 schools across Lincoln and Lincolnshire and including all activities engage with over 1,000 people a week.
