Positivity Going Into Christmas

20 December 2017

After scoring his fourth goal in as many games last weekend, Matt Green is looking forward to another tough test against Newport County on Saturday.

The Imps’ hosts this weekend are also in the hunt for a promotion berth and Green says it’s being involved in competitive games like this, which make up the fabric of the Football League and League Two in particular.

“This is what this league is about, it’s so tight.” Green said.

“It’s a huge game against Newport which is possibly seen as another six pointer. If we can come on the right side of the results over Christmas we’ll be in the place where we all want to be.”

The support of the City faithful is something that resonates throughout the squad and Green is looking forward to seeing them out in large numbers yet again. He insists they can play a crucial part in everyone’s ambitions for the remainder of the season, as talk of a second successive promotion isn’t over ambitious.

“Our fans are the twelfth man, I know it’s a cliché but at this club they really are. They get behind us so well, we feel their emotions and I think they can feel ours on the pitch, we have a great connection and that’s all built off the back of what happened last season so it’s credit to the football club and the manager to have built on that.

“I think it would be rude not to believe, we’ve got to believe. We all have to be positive round the place and round the club and then the world is our oyster. Anything can happen in football.”

Tickets are still available to purchase for the game against Newport County at the Sincil Bank Ticket office and on Eventbrite, HERE

However, please be reminded the postal deadline has already passed.
