WATCH: Rallying call from Danny!

25 August 2018

Danny Cowley has praised the Lincoln City fans ahead of their SkyBet League Two derby with Notts County this weekend. The Imps boss spoke about the vital role the fans have played this season, especially in the 2-1 win over Bury.

Cowley told press how difficult it is for teams visiting Sincil Bank: “I thought the crowd played a brilliant part because once we gave them something to support they really got with us.

“Off the back of the first goal the noise that they created and the energy as a consequence was really powerful. It’s not easy coming to Sincil Bank playing 11 men, so it is certainly a lot harder playing against 10,000 people.”

Notts County will be the Imps second derby within a week following their 1-1 draw with Grimsby Town. Cowley reflected on previous meetings with Kevin Nolan’s side saying: “We have a few derby games in this league and they are all good. We are looking forward to trying to gain more points from the two Notts County games than what we did last year.”

Lincoln City currently sit second in the SkyBet League Two table with 10 points to their name from the club’s opening four fixtures. The side have scored eight goals so far this season and are only denied the top sport by Exeter City through goal difference.

Cowley discussed how the side will move forward together through natural improvement: “We are learning about ourselves as a group, we are learning about different scenarios that come up in a game, we learnt a lot on Tuesday night in terms of seeing the game out and we will naturally improve.”
