Six goal thrillers, early Christmas presents, and an Adrian Patulea winner. 20th December, remember the date, as the Imps have had plenty of joy on this day over the years.

Lincoln City 4-2 Bradford City - 1975

At a brisk Sincil Bank during Graham Taylor's title-winning season, the Imps pushed Bradford City aside in a six-goal thriller.

Left-sided midfielder Alan Harding hit a brace for the Imps, with skipper Sam Ellis and substitute John Ward also getting their names on the scoresheet.

The result meant City were in second spot going into Christmas. An exciting 1976 lied ahead...

The Imps line-up: Grotier, Branfoot, Neale, Booth, Ellis, Cooper, Fleming, Freeman, Graham, Smith, Harding Substitute: Ward 

Notts County 0-1 Lincoln City - 2008

City had started the season in better fashion than the 2007/08 campaign, in Peter Jackson's first full season in charge.

With both sides battling around the mid-table position, County had future Imps Delroy Facey and Jamie Clapham in the starting line-up, while former Imps Paul Mayo and Spencer Weir-Daley were on the bench for the hosts.

The only goal of the game came in the 32nd minute, as Romanian forward Adrian Patulea picked up on an error by Kevin Pilkington to give City plenty to of cheer and optimism going into Christmas.

Attendance: 4,568

Imps line-up: Burch, Beevers, Green, Kovacs, Hone, Brown, Frecklington, Kerr, Mullarky, Patulea, Wright. Subs used: John-Lewis, N'Guessan, Oakes. Subs not used: Duffy, Sinclair.

Lincoln City 2-0 Bournemouth - 1980

Another promotion-winning season from Division Four, this time under the Colin Murphy regime, City picked up maximum points with a two goal victory over the Cherries.

Goals from Gordon Hobson and George Shipley ensured City went into Christmas sat in second-place of Division Four.

Imps line-up: Felgate, T.Thompson, Keeley, S.Thompson, Peake, Carr, Neale, Turner, Hobson, Harford, Shipley.

The day Simon Weaver was born - 1977

'Weavs' played a key role in the first two play-off campaigns between 2002 and 2004. 

Simon joined from then-named Nuneaton Borough (now named Nuneaton) in the summer of 2002 following Keith Alexander's appointment as manager.

Scoring five times, including during the memorable 5-3 play-off first leg victory over Scunthorpe United, Weaver made 101 appearances for the Imps across three seasons, before he departed for Macclesfield Town on loan and then Kidderminster Harriers on a permanent basis. 

The central defender is now manager of National League side Harrogate Town.
