It is with regret that Lincoln City and Lincoln United have mutually agreed to postpone the pre-season fixture due to take place on Monday 16th July.
Unfortunately, the unprecedented temperatures have had a detrimental effect on the pitch at the Sun-Hat Villas and Resorts Stadium and making the pitch unsafe in its current condition.
The game will be rearranged, however whilst a date is yet unknown, both parties are endeavouring to play the fixture within the 2018 calendar year.
In addition to the fixture planning, club officials met recently to discuss the ongoing relationship between the respective clubs and look forward to a prosperous ongoing partnership and of course the rearranged community fixture.
Imps Chief Executive Liam Scully said “We would like to thank everyone at Lincoln United for their hard work and efforts in an attempt to remedy the situation, however we are in agreement that the unprecedented conditions have unfortunately beaten us on this matter”.
Lincoln United chairman Rob Bradley said: ‘I’d like to thank everyone involved in the ongoing discussions, whilst this news is disappointing it’s something which was out of all our control. We look forward to continuing our ongoing partnership with Lincoln City Football Club for many years to come”
