Important Safety Reminder

19 September 2018

Sponsored by

This is an important safety reminder to all supporters that it is an offence to bring fireworks, flares, smoke emitting devices into a football ground.

We would like to reinforce the message that we adopt and enforce a clear policy to prevent and prohibit spectators from taking a flare, smoke emitter or fireworks into Sports Grounds/Football Stadia.

Lincoln City Football Club and all other EFL member clubs have signed the ‘Chairman’s Charter’ which aims to put an end to the dangerous use of pyrotechnics and smoke emitting devices in stadiums. Supporters found to be in breach of the terms of the charter will face a minimum three-year banning order, in addition, Lincoln City Football Club may also be subject to heavy fines for persistent breaches of the regulation.

Football clubs and police forces around the country take a zero tolerance approach on all related matters so a reminder goes out to all Imps' fans, be it at home or travelling to away fixtures, that anyone seen in possession or seen to throw a flare or smoke bomb is liable to arrest and a subsequent banning order under The Sporting Events Control of Alcohol Act 1985.

The Sporting Events Control of Alcohol Act 1985 (as amended by the Public Order Act 1986) makes it an offence for a person to have in their possession any firework / flare / smoke emitter / etc whilst attempting to enter or whilst in a football ground and provides police with the power to search people and to arrest persons committing offences under the Act.

Thank you for your co-operation.
