Following the capture of Callum Connolly from Everton on loan, Lincoln City chairman Clive Nates spoke of the growing relationship between both clubs playing a crucial role in the move for the Toffee’s midfielder.

It was an initial link in 2002 between both clubs which originally brought Lincoln City to the attention of the current City chairman, and now Clive is keen to continue the latest positive connection with the Premier League club for the benefit of all parties.

“The relationship is something that has certainly has helped to bring him to the club. But first and foremost, Callum is a player that Danny and Nicky identified as someone who could really add some value to the team.”

While the loan move for the versatile England U20 World Cup winner benefits The Imps this season, Clive says that the move also demonstrates how his parent club trust that a move to Sincil Bank will be invaluable to the further development of their player and that is just as important.

“It’s the first Everton player we’ve signed in recent times and it’s up to us to help Callum to progress and set the standard and off the back of that, it may lead to us having an even more progressive relationship and then bring more players across to Sincil Bank in the future.”

This weekend could see the latest recruit into the City squad line up against Fleetwood Town, tickets are still available for the game and can be purchased on Eventbrite HERE or from the Club Store at Sincil Bank.
