On Tuesday night, in a celebration of football in the City, Lincoln City and Lincoln United are coming together as one.
After announcing a partnership between both clubs in September, both clubs are proud to announce that this coming Tuesday (26th February) part of the proceeds from The Imps fixture in SkyBet League Two against Exeter City will be donated to The Whites, further solidifying the link between both clubs.
Also available on the evening, there will be a limited-edition programme featuring the two club captains and comment from Lincoln United.
Currently the partnership with City and United has seen a number of initiatives which is benefitting fans of both clubs, and also helps towards the future sustainability of the team from the Evo-Stik League.
Imps’ season ticket holders are able to purchase discounted tickets to watch The Whites in action this season at the Sun Hat Villas and Resorts Stadium on Ashby Avenue when City are away from home, also The Imps purchased a pitchside advertising board to show their support for their neighbours at the home of United.
The partnership has also extended to matters on the field as City youngster, Tim Akinola, recently went on loan to the Sun Hat Villas and Resorts Stadium as he looks to further his career and Akinola highlighted his promise by picking up the man of the match award on his debut against Spalding United.
Lincoln United chairman, Rob Bradley, is delighted with the developments and says everyone associated with The Whites are extremely grateful for the support shown by The Imps.
“Lincoln United do well to compete at the level we are at, and there are a lot of much bigger clubs in our league.” Rob said.
“We are there, in the city, to give opportunities for good players to play part-time football and play at this very strong level. We battle week-in-week out to keep providing that opportunity. For Lincoln City to recognise what we do and actively help us along the way is a tremendous boost and we are extremely grateful for that. Tuesday night’s gesture is another very kind one by Lincoln City and we thank everyone at Sincil Bank for their continued support of our club.
“It has been quite overwhelming therefore to witness how much time and effort has been put in by Lincoln City people to supporting what Lincoln United try to do in our own quest for survival, and indeed success, at the level we play at.” He said.
“It’s a measure of the people at Sincil Bank that they find time to think about helping the local community and nearby football friends as well as meet their own massive challenges.”
