Millwall defender James Brown has signed for the Imps on a loan deal until the end of the season.
The recently-turned 21-year-old Brown, who spent the 2017/18 season on loan at Carlisle United, becomes City's first signing of the January transfer window.
The right-sided defender was part of a defence that kept 12 clean sheets in his 34 appearances last season, and has since been promoted to captain of Millwall's Under-23 team.
Brown was loaned out to Livingston at the beginning of the season, and made a singular appearance in his side's defeat to Celtic.
"You won't find a bigger club in League Two in terms of fan base, so that makes this move an attractive one from the off, for me," Brown said.
"The gaffer is the one who got me here through phone calls, he seems really enthusiastic and there is a good vibe around the place.
"He knows I need to continue to play football, and I have done for the last season and a half so for my development it was important to come here in an environment where we want to go up and get promoted."
Brown has been training with the Imps over the last couple of days, and will be available for Saturday's sold-out Lincolnshire Derby against Grimsby Town.
"I have really enjoyed it, I came up on Sunday and have been training for the last couple of days," he said.
"It is about bedding in and that process but it has been going great and the management staff are great, there is a good bunch here so I am looking forward to it."
Brown, who is predominantely a full-back, is looking forward to benefit from the experience of the other members of the City squad, with former Premier League talent amongst the City backline.
"In terms of style of play I am more of an old fashioned full-back. It is quite rare I guess now days, that is what I pride myself on, defending. I know what League Two is about because I have played in it, if I have to do the ugly side of it I will," he added.
"You know what a career they have had and how good players they are. We can all drive each other forward in competition for place. Someone with that career and that caliber in this league, you can only benefit from it."
