Danny Cowley's side will be looking to make it 16 unbeaten in Sky Bet League Two as the Imps face a trip to Crawley Town on Saturday for the second time in the club's history.

Lincoln City picked up a vital point against promotion rivals Mansfield Town on Monday Night.

The Imps came from behind to draw 1-1 at One Call Stadium in front of the Sky cameras as they enter the business end of the season.

Stags captain Krystian Pearce broke the deadlock with a headed goal after just four minutes to put Town ahead.

City had a number of chances throughout the game however, following Conrad Logan’s foul on Harry Anderson, the Imps were rewarded a penalty in the 75th minute.

John Akinde stepped up to calmly convert the spot kick extending his goals tally to 16 for the season.

Lincoln are now six points ahead of second-placed Bury at the top of the SkyBet League Two table with eight games remaining.

Recent Form

Crawley have won just one game in their previous six with a 2-1 win against Grimsby Town at the start of the month.

The Red Devils came from behind thanks to Ollie Palmer scoring a brace against his former side. The forward has scored 14 goals this season with a 62% shots on target ratio.

Town hosted promotion chasing Mansfield last Tuesday holding them to a 0-0 draw despite having 56% possession against the visitors.

Crawley’s last game ended in defeat when they travelled to Crewe last Saturday.

In form striker Palmer was on the scoresheet again as he put the Red Devils ahead from the penalty spot after just 13 minutes.

However, Crewe quickly scored four first half goals inside the space of seven minutes to put them comfortably in the lead.

Academy graduate Charlie Kirk added a fifth goal for the Alex just two minutes into the second half.

Former Cardiff City youngster Ibrahim Meité saw red in the 80th minute for elbowing Eddie Nolan, leaving Crawley with 10 men.

Three minutes later, Crewe substitute Owen Dale fired home his first senior goal to make it six.

Manager’s comments

Crawley Town head coach Gabriele Cioffi claims that his side are not scared of facing top of the table Lincoln City at the People’s Pension Stadium this Saturday.

“Lincoln are unbeaten in 15 games so I know they are a strong squad but we are not scared to challenge them,” said the Italian.

“They want to be at the top at the end of the game and we want to be two or three places safer at the end of the game, so I think it will be a good game to watch.”

Previous Meetings

Lincoln City will be looking to pick up their first league win against Crawley this weekend.

The Imps drew 0-0 with the Red Devils when they hosted Crawley at Sincil Bank during the 2017/18 season.

The reverse fixture finished in a disappointing 3-1 defeat for City with Matt Green scoring the only goal for the Imps at the Peoples Pension Stadium.

City’s only home defeat of the season was against Town in September 2018 when Michael Bostwick’s own goal was all it took for the visitors to go home with three points.

One to Watch – Filipe Morais

The experienced winger who is a former Portuguese U21 international signed for Crawley in July 2018 after being released from Bolton Wanderers.

Following Harry Kewell’s departure as manager in August last year, Morais and Jimmy Smith were made joint caretaker managers before Italian boss Gabriele Cioffi was appointment in September.

The 33-year-old has made 27 league appearances this season scoring five goals and assisting on two occasions.

Morais who came through Chelsea’s youth setup is a former team mate of Imps star Bruno Andrade having played together at Stevenage.
