Tom Hopper is looking forward to being part of the Lincoln City journey, but was disappointed not to come away from Portman Road with any points today as the Imps lost 1-0 to Ipswich Town.
The 26-year-old arrived at LNER Stadium earlier in the week from Southend and made his City debut today replacing Tyreece John-Jules in the second half.
Hopper spoke after the game, explaining how the side are disappointed not to have claimed any points: “It was frustrating because ultimately it has come down a set-piece.
“We had opportunities to break the deadlock earlier on but that didn’t happen, and I feel like we have limited their options so there wasn’t much in it.
“We are disappointed not to have come away with anything today. We can hurt them going forward because they like to commit going forward but as a team, we haven’t executed that today. We will work on that and put things right on Tuesday.”
Tom went on to speak about his move to the Imps, saying how he became aware of the club’s interest last weekend.
“I became aware last Sunday, and everything developed quickly from there,” said the 26-year-old.
“I had a chat with the staff here at Lincoln and found out about the manager's plans and the intent of the club. It is a club I know well so it was important for me to make the decision, I am looking forward to playing more for Lincoln.
"The gaffer knows League One really well. I will get used to playing under him with the style he wants the team to play, so I am looking forward to that.”
Hopper finished by turning his attention to how Lincoln have grown as a club over the last few years, explaining how he is looking forward to being part of the journey.
“When I was at Scunthorpe, I lived in Lincoln, so I have seen the growth of the club on and off the pitch,” said Tom.
“It hasn’t stopped since, so I am now happy to be part of the journey and look forward to spending time with Lincoln. This is a fresh challenge and start, it is something I am looking forward to.
“Everyone talks about the fans and how passionate they are, it was a great turn out again today so I will be looking forward to playing in front of them some more. The club have belief in me, so I need to repay them with performances on the pitch.”
