Liam Bridcutt is confident the Imps can go on a run again soon, as he prepares to return to action.

The Imps’ captain has been watching from the sidelines since October after picking up a knee injury, but he is now raring to go and confident that this squad has what it takes to turn it around.

He said: “You could say we’re in a difficult patch, but me and the lads know it's just a case of scoring goals. In terms of the way we’ve been playing, defensively or in between the two boxes, we’re up there but we’re just missing that goal at the minute.

“Up until the Portsmouth game we were five unbeaten and we were in a good place, but we’re just lacking goals. Once we start to get the goals, the results will come.”

The experienced midfielder, who was on the bench on Saturday, believes the younger players in the squad will benefit from the experience.

He added: “It’s a learning curve for them. We’ve still got a very young squad and even the players that were here last season, many of them probably wouldn’t have had this in their career.

“The longer the lads go on in terms of their career, they’re going to find themselves in situations like this. It’s a learning curve and it’s part of football, it’s just about how you react and how you overcome it.”
